JASNÁ (6th May 2014) – The first extreme downhill on mountain bikes will be premiered under Mt. Chopok on 10th May 2014. The new Rocky Mountain Bike World Jasná is opening its “bike” gates and offering a variety of tracks in the heart of the Low Tatras. The first extreme downhill of Jasná will be held on the medium difficult “Downhill” track and host also the best of the best – Martin Knapec – a Slovak mountain bike champion, Matej Mackovič and Lukáš Šplíchal – a top Czech mountain biker. Cyclists use comfortable and safe transport to get up the hill in the locality Záhradky – Rovná hoľa.

Downhill is the second most popular discipline after exposed mountain terrain and sought after not only by adrenaline lovers but also recreational cyclists and families with children who can also enjoy riding on scooters or mountain carts. “A good downhill bicycle and protective gear are essential. What´s more, cyclists have to respect the so called Green Code (rules and general instructions for the area of the National Park Low Tatras and all bike tracks). Downhill lowers like the diversity of the terrain and new challenges. That´s why there are a lot of new attractions and offers that we have prepared for them. They can test the beauty of this sport and the natural character of the terrain with wooden obstacles at the first extreme downhill already and then during the whole summer season. There will be also easier tracks available after 28th June. The first extreme downhill will have a special price - 12 Euro for adults,“ said Matej Hulej, director of Tatry Motion shops and services.

The Rocky Mountain Bike World Jasná offers tracks with the total length of 15.6 km – from easy blue, medium red up to black ones. The easiest tracks can be ridden down on scooters as well. Special mountain bikes are available at the Tatry Motion rental in the area of Záhradky. For more information about individual tracks, their description, passability and operation of cableways, please click HERE. It is strictly forbidden to deviate from marked tracks in the whole resort and ride along the ridge of the Low Tatras. For more information about planned events at the bike park, please click HERE. The Green Code or bike track rules allow riding the hill only, from Rovná hoľa to Záhradky. For more information about the bike park rules, please click HERE.

Downhill is considered an extreme sport. Downhill with natural obstacles is performed on tracks with a continuous decline. The tracks are marked with tapes and take only a few minutes to be ridden down. Modern mountain bikes are fully sprung, comfortable and enable to reach high speed and jump. A professional service with a mountain bike, scooter and mountain cart rental is located in the locality of Záhradky, at the lower station of a 6-seater chairlift.
