Tell your skis that the piste of Lomnické sedlo is opening this Saturday!

The High Tatras are getting ready for their big day after a few weeks of preparations. “We started with the grooming already in December once the conditions enabled us to. The most important thing was to pack down the snow so that it doesn’t get blown away by the wind. With more and more centimetres of fresh fallen snow, we were fine-tuning the piste and can say today that it will be ready for skiers on Saturday,” informed Dušan Slavkovský, the general manager of the Vysoké Tatry resort. There is more than one metre of snow on average in Lomnické sedlo. Skiers surmount a vertical drop of 490 metres on this 1,240-metre-long black piste with the average gradient of almost 47%. This is one of the reasons why it is meant for good skiers mainly.

The ski trail with the overall vertical drop of 1,300 metres running from Lomnické sedlo to Skalnaté pleso and from there along red pistes to Tatranská Lomnica is 5.5 km long in total, which makes it the longest piste in the Tatras.
